The main goal was the development of an overall concept for schools which want to become more bicycle-friendly. Each achieved switch-over from motorised vehicle to bicycle is a contribution to CO2 savings. The intention is to show other schools a way to become more bicycle-friendly, respectively make cycling more attractive in the daily lives of pupils and teachers. This includes three main points: Firstly, the development and testing of a certification tool to audit a school towards bicycle-friendliness. Secondly, the elaboration of didactic material regarding the health and safety aspects of cycling, and thirdly, the development of a measuring system that can be attached to a bicycle. This device called AirScout is used to measure air quality/pollutant levels while riding, and it allows to identify low pollution cycling routes.
